Overview
One of the most remarkable aspects of this trek is the striking contrast in scenery. As you progress, the route gradually transforms from the lush green meadows and forested slopes of the Kullu Valley to the stark, arid terrain of the Lahaul and Spiti region. This sudden shift between two completely different ecosystems makes the experience truly unique and visually unforgettable.
Covering approximately 25 to 30 kilometers, the trail takes you deep into pristine Himalayan wilderness, offering panoramic views of towering peaks and peaceful alpine campsites. One of the early highlights is Chika, a beautiful campsite set amidst vibrant green meadows beside the flowing Rani Nallah.
The trek also includes adventurous river crossings and a demanding day of crossing the Hampta Pass, which tests both endurance and determination. Due to the challenging terrain and high-altitude conditions, it is strongly recommended to undertake this journey with experienced and guided Xovantic group departures for safety and support.
The expedition concludes with an optional visit to the breathtaking crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake, a stunning blue lake that serves as the perfect finale to this unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
